Duluth, Minn. - It was was early Tuesday morning when the Olympic-bound curling team returned home to the Northland.

Family, friends and well-wishers waited at the Duluth International Airport a little longer than planned as the connecting flight from Chicago was delayed almost two hours to 12:15 a.m. But, there was still a big a cheer when the skip, John Shuster arrived, along with John Landsteiner, Jared Zezel and Jeff Isaacson. The Shuster rink/Team USA defeated the Czech Republic in a hard-fought battle at the Olympic Qualifier in Germany to earn their bid.

"The reason when I decided to pick up these guys and play with these guys was really that hard work ethic and it was really a difficult task trying to peak for the U.S. Trials and then, three weeks later, leave and have to peak again for another tournament and I was just really proud that we were able to do that and as the week went on, we got better and better," says Shuster.

"When John (Shuster) let go of that last rock and we just swept it in there and finished it off, it felt like a huge sigh of relief and like 'Wow, y'know, this is really happening' and it will just keep on sinking in as the weeks go on and lead up to Sochi," says Landsteiner.

The Winter Olympics are in February in Sochi, Russia. Before then, the Shuster rink will participate in events in Scotland and Las Vegas in January.
