Authorities are investigating after deputies were able to prevent a robbery at an Aurora gas station around 2 o'clock Friday morning.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said deputies witnessed two suspicious males outside the Holiday Gas Station at 5495 Highway 100 before they fled on foot.

A search of the area located a vehicle and one of the men who had fled. Authorities said an interview with the man uncovered the robbery plot.

The man was taken into custody on a violation of probation, authorities said. They said two more individuals were located and interview in regards to the plot and found it to be correct.

Formal charges are pending.
