Hikers, bikers and skiers came together Sunday to protect the areas they love.
Every summer, Duluth's trails are taken over by excess brush growth. So every fall, that brush must be cut back. It's not a job that's on anybody's list, including the City, so the Duluth Cross-Country Ski Club has continually taken it on.
Volunteers cleaned up Lester Park trails on Sunday.
"If they didn't get cleared out every year, they would cease to exist," said Volunteer Trail Coordinator Jim Reed. "It's a never-ending job every year. The brush and the trees grow over the trail and every year they've got to be cut back again."
The club is looking for more volunteers to help clean up Chester Park trails on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 9 a.m.
