Section Cross Country Meets in Cloquet

Cloquet, Minn. - The Section 7A and 7AA Cross Country Meets for girls and boys were held at the Cloquet Country Club on Thursday.

The South Ridge girls and Crosby-Ironton boys won titles in the Section 7A races. Kailee Kiminski of Esko medaled in the girls' race with a time of 15:20. Samuel Johnson of Mesabi East medaled in the boys' race with a time of 16:42.4.

The Forest Lake girls and Cloquet boys won championships in the Section 7AA races. Emma Benner of Forest Lake medaled in the girls' race with a time of 14:38.7. In the boys' race, Andy Magnuson of Chisago Lakes medaled with a time of 16:11.8.

Erica Perpich of Crosby-Ironton was named the Section 7A Boys Coach of the Year. Roger Twigg of Crosby-Ironton was named the Assistant Coach of the Year in the section.

Jeremy Polson of South Ridge was named the Section 7A Girls Coach of the Year. There was a three-way tie for the Assistant Coach of the Year Award with Kari Hunt of Mesabi East, Roger Twigg of Crosby-Ironton and Beth Schield of Cook County/Two Harbors sharing the award.

    About a month ago, Ashland acquired the Soo Line Ore dock back from the Canadian National Railroad company. On Tuesday, the dock finally opened. They had a "Docks n' Brats" celebration as a way to gain community input for the future of the site.
