Wisconsin Supreme Court Hearing Challenge to Collective Bargaining Restrictions

Created: 10/10/2013 9:16 AM WDIO.com

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The Wisconsin Supreme Court has scheduled oral arguments in a case challenging Gov. Scott Walker's collective bargaining restrictions for next month.

A Madison judge ruled last year that the restrictions were unconstitutional as applied to two unions representing Madison teachers and Milwaukee public workers.

It's unclear whether the ruling applies to local government unions statewide however, and state attorneys have appealed the decision.

The 4th District Court of Appeals sent the case directly to the Supreme Court, saying the outcome has sweeping ramifications on public workers across Wisconsin. The justices say they'll hear arguments in the case on November 11.
