Jake Smith to Coach Boys Basketball at Superior

Superior, Wisc. - Superior High School is excited to announce that Jake Smith will be the new Head Boys Basketball Coach starting in the 2013-14 season.

Coach Smith is a graduate of Rhinelander High School and attended college at UW-Superior. While at UWS he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Math Education with a coaching minor. He graduated with honors and was a Swenson Scholar recipient. Coach Smith also played four years of basketball at UWS. As a UWS basketball player he was a four-time All-WIAC All-Conference selection, conference player of the year, All-American and is UWS’s all-time leading scorer. He also played in the Division III National All-Star game.

Coach Smith is currently a math teacher at Superior High School and has coached the SHS Junior Varsity team the past two seasons. He will take over the SHS basketball program from Dave Kontny, who resigned earlier this year.
