Proctor Boys, International Falls Girls Win at Eveleth Lions CC Meet

Eveleth, Minn. - Over 400 athletes from 17 schools competed at the Eveleth Lions Cross Country Invitational at the Eveleth Golf Course. It is the 14th year of the race. Organizers say the course was in excellent shape, the weather was beautiful and the kids ran well.

In the varsity boys race, the individual medalist was Sam Johnson of Mesabi East, who finished the 5k with a time of 17:20. Zack Smith of Proctor was second with a time of 17:40 and Reed Melicher of Eveleth-Gilbert finished third with a time of 17:48.

Proctor took first place in boys team results with a score of 76. Pequot Lakes (94) was second, Cook County (113) was third, Mesabi East (121) was fourth and Eveleth-Gilbert (138) finished in fifth place.

In the girls varsity race, Lexi Erickson of International Falls medaled, finishing the 4k with a time of 16:00. Her teammate, Sydney Raboin, was second with a time of 16:15. Kate Kropid of Duluth Marshall was third with a time of 16:25.

International Falls lead in girls team scores with 104, with South Ridge (110) second, Pequot Lakes (142) third, and Cook County (156) finishing in fourth place.
