Police: Duluth Man Arrested for Tampering with Motor Vehicle

A Duluth man has been arrested for alleged theft, tampering with a motor vehicle and damage to property.

Police were called to a parking lot near 3rd Avenue East and 1st Street around 9:30 Saturday evening after the caller heard the sound of breaking glass and saw a man hiding behind cars.

According to police, an officer arrive and found the 26-year-old suspect inside a car that was next to another with a broken passenger side window. They said he was arrested and found to be in possession of stolen property taken from another vehicle prowl on the 400 block of West 1st Street.

Police said he has prior convictions of tampering with a motor vehicle, assault and DWI.

The man was transported to the St. Louis County Jail.
