One of the Northland's top hockey players has decided where he'll play college hockey as Avery Peterson of Grand Rapids has committed to Division I Nebraska-Omaha.

As a junior center, Peterson helped Grand Rapids get to the section finals and lead the team with 62 points in 26 games. Peterson is a high school senior and will be playing Junior Hockey this season with Sioux City of the United States Hockey League. New Grand Rapids Head Coach John Rothstein told Eyewitness Sports that there is the possibility that Peterson still could return to play with the Thunderhawks.

Peterson was also drafted in the 6th RRound by the Minnesota Wild this year.
