Des Moines, Iowa - Grand Rapids native Kurt Kleinendorst is once again a pro hockey head coach as he is the new bench boss of the Iowa Wild.
They are the Minnesota Wild's new AHL affiliate. He was once a finalist for the head job with the former affiliate in Houston. Kleinendorst was the head coach at Division I Alabama-Huntsville last season. His resume includes being an assistant with New Jersey when they won the Stanley Cup in 2000. He also has five years of AHL coaching experience, including a league title with Binghamton in 2011.
"I am so thrilled to be here because I know of the quality candidates that are out there and for me to have landed this job, I am so excited and really looking forward to being part of the community," says Kleinendorst.
