3 Michigan Yachts Take Divisions in Mackinac Race

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. (AP) - Three Michigan vessels have taken division honors in the 105th annual Chicago Yacht Club Race to Mackinac.

Organizers said Wednesday that "Windquest" won the Royono Trophy after being the first the first boat to finish.

The yacht's corrected time was 49 hours, 57 minutes, 52 seconds. It represents the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club near Grand Rapids.

Macatawa Bay-based "Sufficient Reason" took the Trophy Division of the race from Chicago to Michigan's Mackinac Island.

About 300 boats registered for the 333-statute mile event, with 150 making the finish Tuesday.

"Providence" won the Mackinac Cup Division and "Infinite Diversion" finished first in the Cruising Division.

The Manitou Passage Trophy went to "Lucky Strike" out of the Little Traverse Yacht Club in Harbor Springs.

"Safir III" won the Harold L. Ashton Trophy.
