Officials have identified the teenager who allegedly led authorities on a high speed chase in Itasca County on Independence Day.
Grant Gunderson is 17 years old and the County Attorney's Office wants to try him as an adult. He faces five felony charges, including one count of domestic assault, three counts of use of deadly force against a peace officer, and one count of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle. He also faces two misdemeanor charges.
This all comes after a car chase on the Fourth of July, which ended in about nine miles south of Grand Rapids on Highway 169. Authorities say Gunderson was trying to ram police and other cars off the road.
Gunderson will be in court Wednesday.
An officer fired at the vehicle at one point during the chase. No one was injured. The officer was placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
