1 Killed, Several Injured in Accident Near Cook

One person died and several more were injured in a car accident with a semi Tuesday near Cook.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the crash happened on Highway 73 and Highway 1 just after 6:30 p.m. 

Around 9 o'clock Tuesday night, our crew on the scene described seeing pieces of the vehicles involved scattered across the roadway.

A Honda Accord apparently went through a stop sign, according to the Minnesota State Patrol, and collided with a tractor trailer carrying spring wheat. The car was carrying five passengers.

The State Patrol said the driver and two others were brought to Duluth by helicopter.

Another passenger was brought by ambulance to the Hibbing Medical Center.

The passenger who was killed is a Missouri area woman named Elizabeth Hill. She was 19 years old.

The other passengers were: Jonathon Vickers, 22, Vatilina Kadurina,  and Ivana Brokesova.

Whitney Cragun, 21, of Ironton, MN was the driver of the Honda.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. He is Leslie Abraham, 40, of Rainy River, Ontario.
