A crash has ended two Duluth teens' effort to bicycle all the way to Maine, but they're persevering with a new plan.

Parker Adams and Zach Spehar, two recent Denfeld High School graduates who call themselves the "bike potatoes," set off from Park Point on June 17 on a tandem bike trip raising money for the YMCA's Strong Kids Campaign.

The journey was going smoothly until last Saturday, when a car struck their bike in southwestern Ontario.  The crash separated Parker's shoulder and heavily damaged their bike.  According to their blog, Parker's mom is driving a car out to Ontario so they can continue their journey to Maine.

They'll continue to visit YMCA's and go on hikes along the way.  The blog jokes that they'll have to change their name to the "hike potatoes."
