OCONOMOWOC, Wis. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin is urging Democrats at the party's state convention to band together and oust Republican Gov. Scott Walker in 2014.

Baldwin, a Madison Democrat, delivered a subdued speech at the convention Friday. She complained that Washington Republicans have learned nothing from Mitt Romney's presidential loss last year but continue to stand by as the gap between rich and poor grows.

She urged Democrats to get to the polls in 2014, saying they have a chance to change the status quo and reject Republican obstructionism.

Baldwin took the stage to a thunderous standing ovation. She defeated former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson in November 2012 to become the first female senator from Wisconsin and the first openly gay candidate ever elected to the chamber.
