PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. (AP) - The National Weather Service has confirmed a weak tornado moved through southwestern Wisconsin.
The storm with high winds and heavy rain knocked over campers and uprooted trees at a Jelly Stone Campground near Prairie du Chien Wednesday night. Witnesses reported seeing a funnel cloud. No one was hurt.
National Weather Service meteorologist Todd Shea says a tornado packing winds of about 70 mph moved from the Garnavillo, Iowa, area northeast to the Patch Grove area in northwestern Grant County.
Weather service forecasters also are looking over damage in Richland Center to determine if a tornado touched down.
Richland County Emergency Management officials say several businesses in Richland Center were damaged by the storm. In Trempealeau (TREMP'-eh-loh) County, there are reports of scattered trees down and power outages.
