The St. Scholastica baseball team left the UMAC tournament the same way they came into it--undefeated in conference competition.
CSS scored 10 runs in the second inning to beat Northwestern 12-8 and win its 16th consecutive UMAC conference title. The Saints also earn an automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III tournament.
Northwestern got on the board first, but St. Scholastica answered back with a hard hitting second inning. The first seven batters reached. Andy Schwantes hit a two-run double, Padraic Getchell also knocked in a run with a double followed by a sacrifice fly from Kyle Jensen. The RBI parade continued with contributions from Kyle Flagstad, Jake Casareto, Jake Kuschke and Jordan O'Neill.
This will be the Saints' ninth straight NCAA regional tournament appearance. They will find out where and who they will play on Monday morning.
