The Duluth Kidney Walk is a week away, but you have the chance to help fight kidney disease this Saturday, May 11.
The family of two-year-old Jackson Beattie knows first hand the challenges those with kidney disease face every day. Jackson was in renal failure from birth, but thanks to an unlikely match from his eldest cousin Brett, Jackson was given a shot at a future. Jackson received his life-saving kidney transplant last July.
Eyewitness News first met the Beattie family during last year's Duluth Kidney Walk where they were joined by family and friends to be one on the top fundraisers in our region. Now, after Jackson's transplant and all the struggles that come along with it, his family continues to raise awareness about kidney disease. Now, they're looking for your help.
Saturday, May 11, the Beattie family will host Jackson's "Reckless" Spaghetti Bash fundraiser. This event will help raise money for the Beattie's Duluth Kidney Walk team.
Food for Saturday's event was donated from Food Service Market Place in Superior. Almost $10,000 worth of items are available for the silent auction. Prizes include golf packages, hotel stays and gift cards to great local businesses.
They'll also be doing four different raffles. Top prizes include an authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey, signed authentic Aaron Rodgers Jersey, a new American Girl Doll along with a canopy bed and a fire truck ride to school within Superior.
Musical entertainment will be provided by Reckless. The group will play after the feed.
Saturday's Spaghetti Bash is at the Log Cabin, 2821 County Road E South Range, WI. It will run from 3:30 p.m. Until 7 p.m. For more information check out the Hope for Jackson Facebook page.
Don't forget. The Duluth Kidney Walk happens the following Saturday, May 18, at Bayfront Festival Park.
