Beginners Should 'Keep it Simple'

Minnesota's Fishing Opener is this weekend and while many anglers have experience... there are also beginners out there. To those, fishing guide Charlie Nelson says to keep it simple and don't be overwhelmed.

"I would start with a jig and a minnow and I would start with the eighth once and quarter once jigs and tipped with either fatheads, shiner minnows or light pikes. Most of the minnows, if you fish with a minnow, are in about a three inch range, that is about the size of the wintered, (as) the young aren't that big," says Nelson.
