The Duluth Playhouse is moving underground. And they are showing of their new space this Friday and Saturday .
Tessa Lenneman from the Duluth Playhouse stopped by Good Morning Northland Friday to talk about the ribbon cutting and celebration for The Underground. It is the Playhouse's new event center located at the former site of the Children's Museum in The Depot.
Lenneman said the new space is much bigger than the old Underground. The new larger space allows the Playhouse to hold different types of events and plays there, she said.
A lot of the work was made possible by volunteers and staff at the Playhouse. Lenneman said the production manager there helped with the planning and a lot of the painting. Many volunteers have spent long weekends also helping out, she said.
A ribbon cutting ceremony for The Underground starts at 4 p.m. Friday. It's located at the Historic Depot Arts & Cultural Center. Music will be performed from 4 to 6 p.m.
The first performance at The Underground will also be held Friday night. "Love Letters" begins at 7:30.
The celebration continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with entertainment all day long.
