Duluth, Minn. - In terms of momentum, it doesn't get much better than 15 straight wins and Duluth East is feeling good heading into the Section 7AA Finals on Thursday, which you can watch on WDIO/WIRT-TV.
The Greyhounds got by Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in the section semifinals last Saturday with a 3-0 shutout. In that game, Ryan Lundgren had a hat trick. The 'Hounds have been to state four straight years and need a win over Grand Rapids to make it five straight.
"Stepping on the ice, your season is on the line and you are not nervous, then I think something is wrong with you. But it is a good kind of nervousness because once you get playing, the butterflies just fly away," says Senior Defenseman Meirs Moore.
"Our penalty kill is running at 90 percent and our powerplay is at 40-some percent. Then there is special teams. If you can win the special teams, then you can win the game," says Senior Center Ryan Lundgren.
These teams met on January 10th with the 'Hounds winning 2-1. That was the beginning of their 15-game winstreak. The rematch is Thursday night at Amsoil Arena. The puck drops at 7:30 pm, but televised coverage begins at 7:00 pm with a pre-game show.
