It's not built yet, but Maurices will share their new office tower in downtown Duluth with the National Bank of Commerce.
Bank leaders signed paperwork on Monday to take over the first few floors of the new tower.
The National Bank of Commerce has been part of the Twin Ports since the 1930s. Their community bank president said the new move shows their commitment to the region.
“Expanding into downtown Duluthand connection with the community it's a natural fit for what National Bank has been and will be,” Bruce Webb said.
Webb said the NBC is the largest, locally owned community bank, and they are only getting bigger.
“So with basically doubling our size we're extremely excited about being at that location,” Webb said.
He said that means new jobs, but it is too early to know exactly how many.
The new tower will be built on the corner of Superior St. and 5th Ave. West. Webb said the NBC will offer retail services and a drive up window in the tower's first few floors.
And he says this expansion is part of a bigger trend in Duluth.
“We really feel good about what that will do for that corner and that extension of the downtown vibrancy,” Webb said.
He said there's momentum building downtown, and the NBC is proud to be a part of it.
The bank hopes to move into the tower sometime in 2015. Bank leaders said their current branch at 1314 East Superior St. will stay open even after the big move.
