On Wednesday police on the Fond du Lac reservation suggested formal charges should be filed after a child was forgotten on a bus in single-digit temperatures on Monday.
The incident happened Monday morning. A band official said a 3-year-old boy was found after spending about three hours alone in the cold.
A transportation employee found him knocking on a bus window and still buckled into his seat. A bus driver and bus monitor have been suspended pending an investigation into the incident.
Fond du Lac's Director of Law Enforcement, Jeremy Ojibway, said he sent a recommendation for charges of child neglect to the Carlton County Attorney. The county attorney did not return calls for comment on the case on Wednesday.
