Along with the new year comes a new Duluth City Council president.
In Monday's meeting, fellow councilors elected Patrick Boyle to take the seat for 2013. Before taking on the night's issues, Boyle spoke to councilors about the council's focus through the year.
"It is going to be about streets. We have gone about two years now without a complete street being done and we can't have that anymore," he said.
Boyle told councilors "we will come up with a plan of intent and then we will bring it to the public. We will talk to the citizens to see what they think."
He said fixing streets is a top issue for Duluth residents and said he would like to have some sort of plan set in stone by the end of the year.
During Boyle’s short speech, there was no mention of how any street repairs might be funded.
