A criminal complaint and arrest warrant was issued Wednesday, charging Pine County Sheriff’s Deputy Justin Arthur Stoddard, born in 1984, with seven counts of criminal conduct in relation to allegations of the theft of prescription narcotics while on duty.
The charging document was prepared by the Kanabec County Attorney’s Office and presented by Pine County Sheriff Cole to the Honorable Judge Martin.
The criminal complaint said that Stoddard took Oxycodone and Percocet pills from people he had interactions with as a deputy. He would allegedly tell them he needed to take pictures of the bottles for police purposes, and then allegedly take pills from the bottles.
Stoddard is currently on administrative leave from the Pine County Sheriff’s Office.
The complaint said that he allegedly told authorities that he has a problem with medication, and admitted to stealing the pills.
