It only took 11 years, but Tuesday, the one-millionth rider used the Duluth Transit Authority's U-PASS program to get to or from Lake Superior College.
"They gave me a plaque, and handed me a bag with a sweatshirt and congratulated me," Nina Van Ert told Eyewitness News. She's a Lake Superior College student, and was also the one-millionth rider.
The U-PASS program allows students, faculty and staff at area colleges to ride the bus at any time, for free. UMD is expected to transport its five-millionth rider by the end of the year.
