Authorities have found and identified the remains of a man who disappeared over two years ago.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said Friday that the remains of Andrew Owca were discovered by a group of game hunters on Sunday. The discovery was made several hundred meters off the wildlife trail of the Canosia Wildlife Management Area.

Owca, who was 44 at the time of his disappearance, wandered away from his group home on the 5700 block of Lavaque Road. He was known to have suffered from schizophrenia and did have a history of wandering away.

On Sunday, law enforcement and the Medical Examiner's Office conducted a search in the area of the remains. Additional clothing items were found with the help of St. Louis County Rescue Squad cadaver dogs.

Owca was positively identified by the ME's office through dental records. Authorities said an autopsy showed no signs of trauma.

The investigation into the disappearance of Owca is considered to be closed.
