The Douglas County community is seeing the fruits of its labor, following long hours spent fundraising and planning. Their efforts made it possible for a center dedicated to helping women and kids, to break ground at a new location Wednesday morning.

Doug Finn, from the Douglas County Board, said "this is a great example of partnership, leadership, and working together."

Finn praised the parties involved in helping the Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse, or CASDA, relocate to a new building. Renovations are just starting there, and CASDA's executive director says they'll still need more money to pay for all the work planned.

The space is being converted into offices and a shelter for women and kids escaping from abuse.
