Duluth Animal Clinic Keeping Stray Numbers Down

One Duluth animal clinic is celebrating a big milestone--more than 20,000 cats and dogs spayed and neutered.
The Northland Spay/Neuter program held an open house at their Lincoln Park clinic on Wednesday. The program is partnered with Duluth's Animal Allies Human Society.
John Gustafson, Director of Development and Communications at Animal Allies, said the work done by the Northland Spay/Neuter Clinic has contributed to a 23 percent decrease in strays cats around the city.
"We like to think that our work here is reducing that population of cats and dogs in the community, and giving those animals a new lease on life, and a chance to enjoy the community and find a loving home," Gustafson said.
The Northland Spay/Neuter Program started in 2009, and Gustafson said the clinic is on track to meet the goal for 20,000 more spayed and neutered animals in the coming years.
