The refurbished cedar of a new gazebo at Duluth's Enger Park makes up the structure for an impressive look-out spot--exactly what Duluth's Mayor Don Ness was hoping for.
On Friday, the Mayor held an official ribbon cutting for the new addition. Construction for the gazebo started in June by the Timber Framers Guild, an organization that focuses on the heavy timber trade.
The open-air, open-walled pavilion has incorporates a historical method to its construction. Architect Dave Wells said there's longevity with this Japanese-inspired project.
"I think it turned out just great. Beautiful design, beautiful structure. They picked great products for it, and it should last a long time. Maybe my kids' kids will get to come here," Wells, a architectural project manager with Jamar Company, said.
Mayor Ness said the gazebo is just one part of a larger restoration effort at Enger, making it a premiere park for all of Northeastern Minnesota.
