Seeing roses around the Twin Ports is common this time of year, and on Friday, Duluth Mayor Don Ness proclaimed it Rotary Rose Day.
At a news conference on Friday, Ness gave Duluth's Rotary Club 25 recognition for their work in the yearly fundraiser. This is the 27th year the Rotary club has raised funds for important community efforts, grants and scholarships.
He said things like the lighting of the Aerial Lift Bridge and the Duluth Depot are the work of Rotary donations. Ness also said that includes pitching after this summer's floods.
"It was the Rotary Club 25 who stepped up very early and made a very generous contribution, and they are able to do that because of their fundraising efforts like the Rose Sale and other fundraising efforts through the years," Ness said.
The Rotary Club 25 is selling the roses through October. That also includes October 12-13 at:
- Super One Foods Stores (Kenwood, Lakeside, Miller Hill, Plaza, West Duluth & Two Harbors)
- Mount Royal Fine Foods
- Holiday Center (Oct. 12 only)
