Construction continues on the new track at Duluth East High School because the architect discovered it was too long.
The Duluth School District says the track doesn’t meet high school league standards, but the architecture firm will pay for the adjustments.
A drain was moved to install more interior track surface, but the Duluth based architecture firm ARI would not comment on the additional construction costs.
Some of the track is blocked off, but East High School Activities Director Shawn Roed says the construction has not hindered school activities this year.
District officials say work will resume on Monday when a final surface will be installed to give the track it’s red color.
