Authorities said they took out a search warrant for a residence on Reservation Road in Cloquet, Thursday. "We were searching for the victim," Paul Gherardi, Special Agent with the BCA said.
They were looking for 25-year-old Cristyna Watson of Floodwood. She was last seen by family on September 8th. Her last communication was on the 23rd, and she was reported missing on the 28th.
Around 5p.m. on Thursday, Authorities said they found Watson's body outside of a home on that road. They said the cause of death is "homicidal violence". They would not elaborate more on what that entails, though they did confirm she was not shot.
Authorities said 22-year-old Michael William Siewert is the suspect in the case. Law enforcement said he is a known member of the Native Mob Gang, which Cloquet Police Chief Wade Lamirande said is increasingly becoming a problem on the Fond du Lac Reservation, "We have seen an escalation and presence of violence and crimes associated with the Native Mob."
Authorities said this was not a random act, and that Watson had an acquaintance with Siewert. Though they do not know if she was a witness to any crimes. A Facebook page dedicated to Watson when she was first reported missing has been flooded with comments from those saddened by the news of her death. Many are remember her as being kind to everyone, and as a great young woman who was full of life.
Siewert is expected to be charged in Watson's death as early as next week. He was arraigned in Carlton County Court on Friday in connection with a separate incident. Siewert is facing charges of 2nd degree assault, crime committed for benefit of a gang, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, after authorities said he he shot someone in the foot back in August. His bail has been set at $150,000.
