Methadone has made headlines lately for a variety of reasons.
The latest was because authorities believe that the driver who's been charged with vehicular homicide, was on methadone at the time of a double fatal crash.
Vanessa Brigan faces two counts of criminal vehicular homicide. She was behind the wheel of a sedan, that authorities say caused a chain reaction crash near Cromwell on Monday. Two men, Zak Gamache and Mitch Lingren, died at the scene.
We asked law enforcement how methadone can affect you.
They told us that it can slow your breathing, and make you dizzy and drowsy.
The man who was with the driver in that crash told authorities that he and the driver were fully aware from medical advice that they were not to be driving a motor vehicle while consuming methadone.
The State Patrol told us they are not seeing many crashes involving people who are on methadone, but they do make arrests of people who are driving under the influence of drugs.
