Haunted Ship Opens Thursday in Duluth

The Haunted Ship, the largest haunt in Minnesota, opens up October 4 on the William A. Irvin in Duluth. Production Manager Jake Roeber said it's the only haunted cargo ship in the nation with 10,000 square feet of haunt. Many of the props are handmade and designs are one of a kind.
"We want to make sure you feel like you could die," Roeber said. "I mean, you're obviously safe, but we want to make you feel like you're in danger."
For Roeber, Halloween is more than a holiday, but a lifestyle. He started working on the Haunted Ship back in March designing sets, layouts and props.
"Scaring people, it's kind of like my drug, but it's legal," Roeber said. "So, I don't have to worry about getting caught."
This year, the ship took on a zombie theme titled "Zombie Outbreak". Roeber said the haunt is under new management, and scarier than any other year.
"If there is one thing I love, it's people saying that they loved it," Roeber said. "Something even better is people not being able to make it through."
The Haunted Ship runs from October 4 through Halloween. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for children. If you bring a non-perishable food item or gently-used coat, you can get $1 off admission.
