Authorities say a crash in Carlton County killed two men Monday morning around 8:45.
The victims are: Zachary Gamache, 25, of Esko, and Mitchell Lingren, 29, of Duluth. The state patrol said they were both ejected from the truck they were in.
Also, authorities said the driver of the car that allegedly started the chain of events has been arrested for criminal vehicular operation. Her name is Vanessa Brigan, a 26-year-old from Cloquet. According to the Minnesota Courts website, she has a history of driving with a revoked license.
Authorities said Brigan crossed the centerline, and hit the tire of the truck driven by Gamache. His truck then lost its axle, and then hit a trailer being pulled by another truck. The driver of that truck, Christopher Hecker from Nisswa, was not hurt.
According to the state patrol, the passenger in Brigan's car, Jesse McMillen, also of Cloquet, fled the scene and was later arrested on an outstanding warrant.
The crash happened on Highway 210 near the intersection of Award Boulevard. That is just west of the city of Cromwell.
Traffic was detoured for several hours after the crash.
