Involta Duluth Data Center Opens

In today's technological world, there's a lot of data floating around.  Now, Duluth has one of the best and newest facilities in the state to house data.

On Wednesday, the Involta Duluth Data Center unveiled their new building on Technology Drive. Involta CEO Bruce Lehrman says the shared facility houses multiple computer systems for business and public institutions, and Duluth's resources were a big draw for them to come here.

"Power is avery important aspect of our business. this area probably has one of the most robust power infrastructure of any location we've ever looked at and that has a lot to do with the Minnesota Power folks here," Lehrman said.

Believe it or not, the Northland's cold weather was another big draw. The natural cooling system will help cut costs by about 30 percent in keeping servers cool.

The building brings eight permanent jobs.
