Expansion Underway for Ely's North American Bear Center

The North American Bear Center in Ely broke ground on a new $1 million expansion Sunday.
The new 100 by 80 foot addition will house the Hope Learning Center and Northwoods Ecology Exhibit as well as equip the center with the latest technology.
The new Hope Center will be able to uplink worldwide events, interview, online questioning, the whole works. There's a whole new realm of technology coming into place," said Michael Martin, moderator for bear.org.
They hope to have the walls up by Thanksgiving, complete the inside during the winter, and open to the public in May 2013.
