nullNEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say the Virginia man accused of driving hundreds of miles to kill the superintendent of a school district in upstate New York has been charged with second-degree murder.

Chautauqua County Sheriff Joseph Gerace also said a handgun was found in the car of Anthony Robert Taglianetti II when he was captured Friday in Virginia.

A person familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press on Saturday that 42-year-old Taglianetti believed Clymer, N.Y., Superintendent Keith Reed Jr. was having an affair with his wife. The person requested anonymity because the information was not being publicly released by authorities.

The person said Taglianetti became angry when he intercepted communication between his wife and Reed. A man answering a phone listed under the same name as Taglianetti's declined to comment.
