Heavy Rains Bring Roadway Flooding to SE Michigan

DETROIT (AP) - Heavy rains have brought some roadway flooding to southeast Michigan, while health advisories remain in effect from storm-related sewage releases.
Flooding early Tuesday on Interstate 75 at I-94 in Detroit slowed traffic, with motorists trying to drive through the high water. Police were working to divert traffic.
The heavy rains came as storms moved across the state.
The downpour followed heavy rain last week that overwhelmed some of the state's wastewater treatment systems.
Mlive.com says Saginaw got 5.1 inches of rain, which filled the city's retention basins and lead to the release of 375 million gallons of sewage into the Saginaw River.
Bay County's wastewater system also released sewage into the river on Friday. On Monday, the county's health department issued a warning against contact with Saginaw River water.
