Many talented drivers tackle the turns of Hibbing Raceway during the summer. But on Tuesday night, the track hosted some of the best.
These drivers tour with the World of Outlaws, one of the top sprint car circuits in the country.
"We race all over the country 100 times a year. We feel we're the best of the best," said Danny Lasoski. "When you come to see us, it's the greatest show on dirt."
They race a busy schedule, but Terry McCarl says none of them hesitated when asked to compete in Hibbing's All Star Circuit of Champions.
"This is an event we really wanted to support, really wanted to go out of our way to come up here," McCarl said. "We enjoy these kinds of race tracks."
"You get a lot of local fans coming out and we just enjoy racing the small track," said Jac Haudenschild.
This was no exhibition match. The local drivers are good enough to keep these guys on their toes.
"They got a lot of guys who don't run with the Outlaws everyday but they're great caliber drivers," said Donny Schatz, a former sprint car champion.
Schatz headlined the event. He says racing with the Outlaws was a dream of his growing up.
"Be careful what you wish for, sometimes it happens," Schatz said. "It's been a great career and I look forward to it. It's fun to be a part of it."
No matter how long you've been racing, Schatz says the roar of a crowd never gets old.
"The atmosphere in the air is what keeps racers going," he said. "It's something people are very appreciative of. It's a lot of fun for everybody involved."
All of these drivers have roots in local, small track racing, and they know how crucial it is to help those venues thrive.
"We want these races to succeed, get a good crowd, put on a good show for them, maybe come back again, put on bigger and better shows in the future," McCarl said. "These races are important to us and to keep it growing is important to us too."
