Summer Programs at Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center

The popular Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center in Duluth, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is offering a series of summer programs between 12:00 and 4:00 P.M. now through Labor Day.

Programs include films, videotapes, and slide-lecture presentations covering such Great Lakes topics as shipping, natural history, cargoes, shipwrecks, commercial fishing, lighthouses, Soo Lock operations, vessel profiles, and Duluth-Superior Harbor activities.

Programs will change weekly with over twenty different special programs offered throughout the summer.

The Visitor Center will also be featuring again this season outside programs in the park. "The Pier History Tour," a 30-minute walking tour will introduce visitors to the exciting history of Canal Park.

The program will explore the history of the Duluth Ship Canal, the famous Aerial Lift Bridge, canal shipwrecks, lighthouses, and dozens of other related topics.

The Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center is Free and open daily from 10:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. during the summer season.
