The USCG Cutter Alder has a new commander. Anthony Maffia took over on Friday, at a tradition-filled Change of Command ceremony.

He is now the 4th commander of the vessel, which was commissioned in 2004.

Before Maffia took over, the former commander, Mary Ellen Durley, gave an emotion filled speech. She had lead the Alder for three years, and said she was so proud to serve with such a great crew.

Friends and family filled the tent, to watch the officials change of command.

Durley also thanked the Lakeside community for making her feel so welcome.

Maffia thanked his family for their support, and said he's looking forward to becoming part of the community.
