Waldron Out, Acting Chief Selected for Virginia Police

Dennis Benz is now the acting chief for the Virginia Police Department. His most recent rank was detective.
Benz is taking over for former Chief Dana Waldron, who's resignation went into effect on Friday evening. Waldron agreed to resign back on May 11.
He had been at odds with some city leaders and officers in his own department for several years. In the agreed separation agreement, Waldron will receive almost $100,000 from the city of Virginia, about about $30,000 from the League of Minnesota Cities.
The city is considering what to do next with the leadership position.
