If the Twin Ports wins the Google competition not only could it make our internet run a hundred times faster, but it could be a huge outlet for more jobs in the Northland.

From amateurs to professionals, young to old, "Google Movie's" casting call brought out a variety of actors who were all eager to land a role.

Patrick Garmoe, the spokesperson for Google Twin Ports, felt that the movie would set us apart. "It's one of our many efforts to put ourselves a step ahead of the rest of the country. Quite frankly, we don't know of any other city doing this," said Garmoe.

Staying ahead of the national competition Garmoe said could lead to thousands of new jobs here in the Northland. "Companies from across the country would be interested in potentially moving here or at least opening up an office here, because of the high speed fiber lines," said Garmoe.

A possible phenomenon that Garmoe compared to. . . "Being the first city in America with electricity or the first city in America with the railroad coming through".

In other words, a big deal. He said that Google Fiber is about a new realm of internet and the progression of technology."Such as doctors being able to check up on patients remotely, or maybe even surgeons using robotics operating through the internet from a remote location," said Garmoe.

Either way, win or lose, Google Fiber has the Twin Ports abuzz with excitement.

"The Twin Ports is where it's at. The Twin Ports is what it's all about, if they're going to have Google Fiber. You have both Superior and Duluth, Minnesota and you bring us together, you run your fiber optics here, and it's not going to get any better," said Gabe Green.

The Google Twin Ports team said they've already received calls from businesses across the nation that are interested in working with Duluth, if we win this competition.
