Shots Fired in Barnum Domestic Disturbance

Authorities in Barnum say that a domestic disturbance on Saturday lead to shots being fired. The incident happened around 4:30 PM on County Road 104. According to the Carlton County Sheriff's department, the 41-year-old male suspect discharged a high caliber rifle in the yard adjacent to the home.
Deputies were called and arrived on scene to begin their investigation. They discovered that the suspect had barricaded himself in an out building on the property. The Carlton County Sheriff's Office then called in assistance from Cloquet Police, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the Consolidated Emergency Response Team.
Law enforcement tried to make contact with the suspect, and according to authorities it was at this time that the suspect randomly fired the rifle in the direction of the officers on scene.
The suspect is from Blackhoof Township. He was apprehended at the scene and transported to Cloquet Memorial Hospital for evaluation, and ultimately to the Carlton County Jail. He faces various criminal charged related to the incident. No one was injured and the case will be referred to the Carlton County Attorney's Office.
