  • Bucks-Only Hunt This Fall in Most of NE Minn.

    Deer hunters in most of northeastern Minnesota will only be allowed to harvest bucks this fall as the Department of Natural Resources tries to rebuild deer numbers.  The bucks-only harvest will take place in 14 permit areas covering Lake, Cook, and much of St. Louis counties.

  • Crews work to clean up downed power lines in the Eveleth area Tuesday. 5,000 Homes, Businesses Still Without Power One Day After Storm

    At least 22,000 homes and business in northeastern Minnesota were without power immediately after a severe storms moved through the area early Tuesday morning. More than 5,000 remained without power as of midday Wednesday.

  • State Auditor Reviews Duluth Schools Red Plan

    The Duluth School Board hosted state auditors at a special meeting on Tuesday. The auditors presented a review of the district's long range facilities plan, which was prompted by a citizen petition. However, Board Member Art Johnston said the review left him with more questions than answers.

    Witnesses took the stand Tuesday as the trial for Cook County Attorney Tim Scannell, who is charged with having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl, began its second day. 

  • Widespread Tree, Building Damage from Overnight Storms

    People are cleaning up after storms across the Northland damaged trees, flipped docks and boats, and damaged some buildings early Tuesday morning.  Winds destroyed a hanger at the Eveleth-Virginia Airport and the plane inside.
