Updated at: 12/08/2009 11:25 PM St. Louis County Schools Referendum PassesThe results are in, and the referendum for the St. Louis County School District has passed. But it was a narrow margin. According to the district, 52% of the voters said yes. 48% said no. The breakdown of the votes shows that Tower-Soudan, Orr, and Cook voters overwhelmingly voted no. But numbers in Babbitt-Embarrass, Cherry, Cotton, and Albrook were overwhelmingly in favor of the referendum. The election attracted 53% of voter turnout. The board is holding a special meeting at 5pm on Wednesday, to make the results official. Voting took place at all seven schools on Tuesday. The plan includes closing Cook, Orr, Cotton, and Albrook, and then building two new schools for those communities to share. Babbitt-Embarrass, Tower-Soudan, and Cherry will be remodeled. According to the district, the referendum would affect your taxes for 20 years. On a $100,000 home, that's about $14 per month. For more information:
