The same crash claimed the life of her friend, Emmy Foss. Anderson has been upgraded to stable condition at St. Luke's Hospital. But she had been in critical condition for about a month. "Her kidney was lacerated, her ribs were cracked, and her spinal cord was crushed," her aunt Betty Moran said. "But she's staying positive, and smiling during this difficult situation." Just the other day, Anderson started moving her toes. She has partial paralysis from her spinal cord injury, but her family hopes with therapy that she will regain use of her whole body. She is being transferred to the Mayo Clinic when she is stabilized, which could be as soon as Monday. "I miss my baby sister. I told her if she gets through this, she can wear whatever she wants from my clothes. Her eyes widened when I told her that," Chelsea Anderson said. Tragically, the Andersons don't have insurance, due to her father's layoff at Keewatin Taconite. There are two benefits coming up for Paige: Saturday, December 12th: Pancake breakfast at Applebee's in Grand Rapids, 8am-10am. Pork chop dinner at Marble Town Hall, from 4pm-8pm. And donations can be made at any Wells Fargo bank. The third girl in the crash, Hailey Salo of Grand Rapids, is now recovering at home. |
