Hermantown Downed in State Championship

Hermantown was unable to overcome Mahotmedi's two goals in the first 16 minutes of the class A state soccer championship Thursday at the Metrodome. The Hawks fell 3-0 in their first title game appearance in the sport.

Hermantown rode into the match on a 15-game win streak. They had only one previous loss this season. The Hawks won their first two games at state and finish their remarkable year 22-2. Mahtomedi ends up 17-3-3.
